A hardy banana relative native to China where it grows at altitudes of 1,200 meters. It is sacred to Buddists and is capable of flowering even without foliage. Produces very showy, golden-yellow inflorescences resembling lotus flowers. Best grown in full sun and well drained soil. Try it in a more protected location and provide a good winter mulch. (6')
