Huge, imposing plant with bamboo-like foliage. Showy plumes appear in late summer and fall. Stalks are sometimes used to make reeds for musical instruments. Use it as a border accent or as a screen or windbreak. Needs full sun and well-drained soil. If you need a hardier plant with the same stature try Miscanthus giganteus or Miscanthus Goliath.
