Sword-like, flat foliage arising from the base of the plant. Set with a thick stalk bearing velvet brown cylindrical flowers that eventually become traditional 'cattails'. Prefers wet soil or shallow water -- in full sun to partial shade. This plant helps to purify the water. (5-6')
