Japanese Astilbe

Exceptionally fragrant, shade loving perennial. Mounding, bushy form with lacy green foliage flushed with hints of red. Produces masses of airy, peachy-pink flower plumes which are borne on contrasting dark red stems in early to mid-summer. Very winter hardy.
Prefers light to moderate shade with average to moist soils. Astilbes may burn if planted in full sun. Deep shade tolerant but will not flower as prolifically. Water plants during the summer especially if there is less than average rainfall. Extented drought periods will lead to browning of the foliage and may result in foliage drop. After flowers finish, prune spent flowers off and lightly shape the foliage to encourage new growth. HEIGHT: 60-70 cm SPREAD: 50-60 cm
