Double Flowering Bloodroot
Zone 3
Rarely offered double flowering bloodroot. This rhizomatous woodland perennial produces solitary, fully double white flowers (7cm wide) in early spring. It's flowers last longer than the species however it is very slow growing only 5-7 cm a year. Beautiful deeply lobed foliage. Often the blooms will emerge through the unfolded leaves. Double flowering bloodroot differs from the species in that it is sterile, therefore propagation is only achieved by dividing the rhizomes. Prefers average to moist, well-drained fertile soil in full shade to partial shade. Thrives in some sun where soils remain consistantly moist. HEIGHT: 15-20 cm SPREAD: 20-30 cm
